Kelci's Semester Portfolio

     Hi, my name is Kelci Sumida and I am a sophomore at Moanalua High School This semester, I learned how to incorporate ideas, organization, voice, word choice, and sentence fluency into my writing to make it stronger and more effective. I also learned when it is appropriate to use ethos, pathos, logos in my essays. By using those 3 techniques, I am able to emphasize points and make the reader feel what I want them to feel. I also learned about active and passive sentences, which make my sentences come alive and become more interesting. These techniques helped me to write strong personal essays, along with a college application essay. My main learning goal for this semester was to improve my writing by making it flow smoother. I think that this goal was met, because once I started using all the writing techniques that we learned, my essays got better each time.
