Conclusion

Overall, this semester was interesting, but challenging. I learned a lot of new things that helped to better my writing, such as ethos, pathos, and logos, active, passive, and sentence fluency. All of these strategies can help to make my writing much better if used at the appropriate times. This past semester, I would say that my proudest achievement would be completing my first college application essay. It was a good experience to see the different examples and what colleges look for when viewing your applications. It helps me to get prepared for the future so I that I know what to expect.

The biggest challenge I had this semester was trying to balance academics and athletics. Many times, after a big game or even practice, I would be too tired to do my homework when I get home. Usually, this results in me rushing to get it done the next day, meaning it's not my best quality work. After first quarter, I realized that I need to work harder and put in more effort to get better grades. I began doing my homework right after school, so I was able to just relax after my practices.

My goals for next semester are to get good grades on my essays and to improve on sentence fluency. Now I know what Mr. Zavala expects on my essays, and I will work hard to meet those standards. I will also try to vary my sentence lengths and use different patterns to help my essay flow better.
